What Ekhowley Co does, and how the catalogue works

We assemble homeware from small studios and workshops, organise it by room and material, and handle both single orders and trade supply. Below is how each part of that work fits together.

Questions we get before an order

Most of what people ask comes down to how the catalogue works, how pieces travel, and how trade requests are handled. Short answers below.

How is the catalogue organised?

By room and by material, not by season. You will find stoneware grouped with other ceramics, linen and cotton together under textiles, and woven pieces kept alongside baskets and storage. Each listing carries size, care notes, where the material comes from, and a line on the studio or cooperative that made it.

Do you deliver outside Cape Town?

Yes. Orders ship across South Africa. Ceramics and glassware are packed in double-walled boxes with paper padding, and baskets travel with their lids secured. If you are ordering for a guesthouse or a larger flat, tell us at checkout and we will group items into fewer parcels where it is safe to do so.

Can I request samples before a bulk order?

Trade enquiries from interior stylists, guesthouses and small retailers are handled separately from retail orders. Sample requests and bulk terms are arranged on application, so send through the pieces you are considering and the quantities you have in mind, and we will come back with what is currently in the studio.

Why do some pieces vary slightly?

Because they are made by hand. Wall thickness on thrown mugs, the tone of a natural dye bath, the spacing in a woven basket: these shift a little between batches. We photograph the current run and note where variation is expected, so what arrives matches what you saw.

How should I care for linen and stoneware?

Linen: machine wash cold, line dry in shade, press on the reverse if you want a crisp edge. Stoneware: dishwasher on a low cycle is fine, though hand washing keeps the glaze even over years. Baskets prefer a dry cloth and a spot away from long direct sun. Full notes sit on each listing.

What the catalogue actually does for you

Every listing carries the details you need before an object reaches your table: dimensions, care notes, where the material came from, and who made it. No trend cycles, no seasonal churn. Just the pieces that hold up in a first flat, a guest room, or a gift that outlasts the wrapping.

Ekhowley Co offerings

Organised by room and material

Browse stoneware by studio, linen by weave, baskets by fibre. Filtering by room keeps a kitchen list separate from a bedroom list when you are kitting out a flat in Observatory or restocking a Sea Point guesthouse.

Full specs on every listing

Capacity in millilitres, runner length in centimetres, basket height, glaze finish, wash temperature. Enough detail to match a piece to the shelf or table it is going on before you commit.

Quote list for mixed orders

Add mugs, a runner and a storage basket to one list, then send it through. Useful when you are ordering across rooms or combining a gift with something for the house.

Trade and guesthouse supply

Interior stylists, guesthouses and small retailers are handled on a separate track. Sample requests and bulk quantities are arranged directly, with lead times confirmed before anything is dispatched.

Delivery across South Africa

Orders ship nationwide. Fragile stoneware is packed in layered board and paper, textiles are folded flat, and baskets travel with the lid secured. If you want to see how a piece is made and packed before ordering, the process page walks through it step by step. For anything specific to your order, reach us through contact.

What buyers and stylists say after the first order

Most of our trade comes back a second time. Below are notes from people who ordered for a first flat, a guesthouse refurbishment, or a shoot, along with the studios and shops we work with regularly.

I ordered the Karoo mug set and two linen runners for a flat in Observatory. The mugs arrived wrapped individually and the glaze matched the photos. Two years in, they still look right.
Nadia P. - first flat, Observatory
We furnish six guest rooms and needed baskets that hold shape. The ilala palm ones have taken a season of daily use without sagging. Care notes on each listing made the handover to housekeeping simple.
Riaan M. - guesthouse owner, Greyton
I style shoots and often need a small run of the same object. Sample requests were handled separately from the retail side, which saved a lot of back and forth on lead times.
Lerato D. - interior stylist, Cape Town
